A quick tip for North American readers....

... if you represent a vendor (or 3rd party agency) and you want to convey relevance and understanding of the global telecom marketplace, you might want to consider putting an international dialling code in your email footers.

It's a small thing, but just putting 123 456 789 reduces your credibility and makes a company look really parochial, compared to +1 123 456 789.

I, like many of my North American counterparts, was not aware what you meant by this "international dialing code". Re: the global telecom marketplace, I assume you are referring to what we in the industry call "Not-America". It's of course a purely theoretical concept, not unlike dragons, but is sometimes useful for thought experiments.

PS: What's this "Huawei" thing everybody is talking about?

The "Huawei" thing is much like the "Nokia" thing - a fanciful tale of a mythical creature of enormous size and importance that resides in far-off lands...

Dean, don't you know the USA is the center of the telecom world? We are number 1.

Just wait another 30 years, and US will sell their country code to China ;-)

Thanks for the lighthearted replies!

Not really a huge issue, just a minor observation...

>>Dean, don't you know the USA is the center of the telecom world?

a) I think you'll find it's spelled "centre"
b) That's OK, given that London is the centre of the rest of the known universe.
